Questions and answers

Which should I choose – PVC, timber or timber-aluminium?

The choice depends on the building, desired appearance, thermal and sound insulation requirements, maintenance and planned budget.

PVC windows and doors are popular for their good insulation, easy maintenance and favourable value for money.

Timber windows and doors offer the natural appearance and warmth of wood, especially where natural materials are central to the architecture and interior design.

Timber-aluminium windows and doors combine wood inside with aluminium protection outside, offering a premium solution where design, durability and high-quality workmanship matter.

There is no single best solution for every building. The right choice depends on the needs of the individual project.

How can I get a quote for new windows and doors?

For an initial estimate, simply send approximate opening dimensions, the number of windows and doors, your preferred material and basic project information. Photos of the existing units or building can also be very helpful.

Once the main project requirements are defined, a suitable quote can be prepared. Before ordering and manufacture, an accurate on-site survey establishes the final production dimensions.

Do I need exact window and door dimensions before requesting a quote?

No. Approximate measurements are enough for an initial estimate.

Measure the approximate width and height of each opening and state how many windows and doors you need. If you are unsure how to measure, you can also send us photos.

The exact dimensions required for manufacture are established by a professional survey before the final order.

What affects the price of PVC, timber and timber-aluminium windows and doors?

Price depends on unit sizes and quantities, material and profile, glass, opening type, hardware, colour or finish, and accessories such as roller shutters, insect screens and sills.

Removal of existing units, installation conditions and required finishing work can also affect the total project cost.

With so many possible combinations, an accurate price can only be established once the project's requirements are known.

Are PVC windows and doors a good choice for a house or flat?

PVC windows and doors suit many residential buildings thanks to good thermal and acoustic properties, easy maintenance and a range of designs, colours and finishes.

However, overall window quality depends on more than the PVC profile. Glass, hardware, seals, accurate measurement and quality installation are also important.

When choosing PVC windows, consider the whole system, rather than a single specification or price.

What are the advantages of timber windows and doors?

Timber windows and doors stand out for their natural appearance, warmth and ability to complement various architectural styles.

Well-made timber windows can provide very good thermal and acoustic performance, but wood is a natural material that needs suitable protection and maintenance.

Timber is a particularly good choice when natural materials and interior appearance are important to the project.

What are the advantages of timber-aluminium windows and doors?

Timber-aluminium combines the benefits of two materials. Inside, it retains the natural look and warmth of wood, while exterior aluminium cladding adds protection against rain, sun and other weather conditions.

This combination offers a durable, high-quality and visually attractive solution, especially for modern houses, villas and buildings that call for a premium finish.

Should I choose double or triple glazing?

Triple insulating glazing generally offers better thermal performance than double glazing, but the right choice depends on the building, window position, chosen system and project requirements.

The number of panes alone is not enough. The properties of the complete insulating glass unit, profile, seals and installation method matter.

Glazing should therefore be selected as part of the complete window system.

Can new windows and doors improve my home's thermal insulation?

Yes. Quality new windows and doors, correctly installed, can reduce heat loss and improve indoor comfort.

The extent of improvement depends on the old units' condition, the new windows, glass, installation quality and thermal properties of the rest of the building.

The best result comes from correctly matching the profile, glass and installation method.

Can new windows and doors improve sound insulation?

Yes, but sound insulation depends on several factors: window construction, glass composition and thickness, sealing and installation quality.

If the property is beside a busy road or in another noisy location, mention this when selecting windows and doors so a suitable solution can be planned.

A quality window without correct installation will not necessarily achieve the expected sound insulation.

Why is correct window and door installation so important?

Product quality and installation quality go hand in hand. Even a high-quality window will not perform fully unless correctly measured, positioned, secured, sealed and adjusted.

Correct installation is essential for stability, sealing, thermal and sound insulation, and lasting, proper operation.

That is why NOLE gives professional measurement and installation as much attention as product selection.

Do you remove old windows and doors before installing new ones?

Yes, removal of existing windows and doors can be agreed as part of a replacement project.

The removal method and scope depend on the existing units, how they were installed and the condition of the openings.

We define all necessary work in advance so it is clear what the agreed quote covers before installation begins.

Do you carry out finishing work after installation?

Yes. Depending on the project and agreed scope, NOLE also carries out finishing work after installation.

After removing old windows and doors, repairs, reveal finishing or other work around the newly installed units may be needed.

The scope depends on the existing openings and is best assessed during the site survey.

How long does installation take?

Installation time depends on the number and size of units, access, whether removal is needed and the extent of finishing work.

Installing a few units and replacing all windows and doors in a house are different projects, so the same timeframe cannot be set for every property.

Once we know the project scope, we can give a more realistic estimate of the work duration.

How long does manufacture and installation take?

Lead times depend on the chosen type, dimensions, colour, glass, accessories, complexity and current production schedules.

Non-standard designs and special requirements may take longer than standard solutions.

The estimated delivery and installation schedule is therefore defined with the specific quote and order.

Are different colours and finishes available?

Yes. Depending on the system, options range from classic white to modern darker shades such as anthracite and finishes that imitate natural wood.

When choosing a colour, consider the façade, roof, entrance door, sills and other building elements.

Well-chosen windows and doors are not only functional but also an important part of the building's overall appearance.

Can roller shutters and insect screens be fitted with new windows and doors?

Yes. It is best to plan roller shutters and insect screens together with the new units so all elements work together technically and visually.

Various roller shutter and insect screen designs are available depending on the project, and roller shutters can also have electric operation.

If you are planning roller shutters, insect screens or other accessories, mention them in your initial enquiry.

Why does condensation sometimes appear after replacing old windows?

New windows and doors generally seal much better than old ones, reducing uncontrolled air exchange through joints and gaps.

If moisture builds up indoors and ventilation is insufficient, condensation can form on colder surfaces. Proper, regular ventilation is therefore important after installing well-sealed windows and doors.

Condensation can have several causes, so it does not automatically indicate a window or door defect.

What should I look for when comparing quotes?

Do not compare only the final price.

Check the profile and glass, hardware, included accessories, whether measurement, delivery, removal, installation and finishing work are covered, and the warranty terms.

Two quotes for apparently similar windows can differ significantly in product quality, scope of work and what is included in the final price.

A good quote should clearly show what you get for your money.

What happens from the first enquiry to completed installation?

It starts with your enquiry and basic project details. You can send approximate dimensions, photos and a description of the windows and doors you would like.

A quote is prepared once the main requirements are defined. Before production, a precise survey confirms dimensions, opening types, glass, colours, roller shutters, insect screens and other details.

Once the units are manufactured, the work is scheduled. Delivery is followed by removal of existing units if needed, professional installation, adjustment and agreed finishing work.

Our aim is to make the whole process – from enquiry and measurement to completed installation – as straightforward and clear as possible.
