Roller shutters

Roller shutters – protection, comfort and light control

More than sun protection – a quality roller shutter becomes part of the window and everyday comfort at home.

Roller shutters make daylight easy to control, increase privacy and help protect rooms from overheating in warmer months. When correctly selected, they can also contribute to the window’s thermal and acoustic protection.

NOLE offers two basic designs: top-mounted roller shutters and externally mounted roller shutters. The choice depends on the building, existing windows and doors, construction stage, preferred appearance and use.

Top-mounted roller shutters – window and shutter as one unit

Top-mounted roller shutters are an ideal solution when the shutter is planned together with new windows.

The shutter box is placed above the window frame, and the window and shutter are installed as a coordinated unit. This creates a neat appearance and integrates the system very well into the opening.

Top-mounted shutters are particularly suitable for window replacement and new construction, when the shutter’s position and design can be properly defined before installation.

Depending on the system and design, the box can be thermally insulated, with different options for access to the mechanism for future servicing.

Integrated insect screen – two functions in one system

One of the most practical features of top-mounted shutters is integrating a roller insect screen into the same system.

When the shutter is raised, the insect screen can be used independently as needed, allowing ventilation while protecting against mosquitoes and other insects.

This keeps the window, shutter and insect screen visually coordinated, without additional separate systems.

Externally mounted roller shutters – flexibility and modern style

Externally mounted shutters are installed outside the window and offer considerable freedom in choosing the installation method.

They can be an excellent solution for new buildings, renovations and retrofitting to existing windows where the building’s technical conditions allow.

A major benefit is the choice between visible and concealed boxes.

External roller shutters with a visible box

In this design, the box remains visible on the outside of the building.

This is particularly practical for renovations and retrofits because the shutter does not need to be integrated into the façade structure in advance.

By choosing the right shape and colour for the box, guides and slats, the whole system can be coordinated with the window colour and façade.

Concealed external shutters – when the box becomes almost invisible

For modern architecture, a concealed design is a particularly elegant solution.

The box is planned to blend into the façade finish, reducing its visual presence and creating a clean elevation. This type of shutter therefore needs to be planned early in the project.

The shutter retains its function while its technical parts blend discreetly into the architecture.

Fewer visible elements. A cleaner façade. A modern finish.

Aluminium slats – stability and durability

A quality shutter depends on more than the box and installation method. The slats themselves also play an important role.

Aluminium slats with polyurethane filling offer good stability, resistance and insulation, and are available in different sizes according to system requirements.

A wide choice of finishes allows shutters to be visually coordinated with windows, the façade and other building elements.

From classic white to anthracite, other modern shades and wood finishes, a shutter can be more than a functional window accessory – it can be part of the overall house design.

Manual or electric operation?

The way you operate a shutter has a significant impact on everyday comfort.

Conventional manual operation is a simple, functional solution for standard windows.

For larger shutters, more windows or simply a higher level of comfort, electric operation is a much more practical solution.

Depending on the selected system and equipment, shutters can be operated using a switch, remote control or compatible home automation system.

Raise or lower the shutter at the press of a button, without pulling a strap – particularly practical for large glazed areas and daily operation of multiple shutters.

Electrically operated roller shutters

Adapt light and privacy to your day. Electric controls make raising and lowering roller shutters easier, especially when you have several or larger openings.

Controls

Controls suited to your space

Wall switch

Clear commands to raise, stop and lower the shutter, placed within easy reach. We agree the switch position and necessary wiring preparation to suit the property.

Remote control

A practical way to adjust the shutter without approaching the window. Availability and connection options depend on the selected system.

Automation options

We consider additional options only after a compatible system has been selected. Not every electric roller shutter supports every type of automation.

A choice based on your property and needs

During consultation, we check the number and size of openings, existing shutters, the availability of power and how you want to use them. For new buildings, preparation is best planned early; for replacements, we first check existing conditions.

Each quote is prepared individually according to the selected design, equipment and work required.

Roller shutters with integrated insect screens

The shutter and insect screen can form one compact system.

The integrated roller insect screen hides in the box when not in use and can be lowered in front of the open window as needed.

This solution provides sun and privacy protection and, when needed, insect protection without extra elements on the window. Availability depends on the specific shutter system.

Top-mounted or externally mounted roller shutter?

No single design is best for every building.

A top-mounted roller shutter would be our choice when the shutter is planned with a new window and a compact, coordinated system is wanted.

An externally mounted roller shutter offers greater flexibility for renovations and retrofits, and is also well suited to new buildings – particularly in a concealed design for a clean façade.

Roller shutters tailored to your home

Price alone does not determine the right shutter.

Important factors include the window type, dimensions, installation method, box position, slat type, controls, insect screen integration and the appearance of the whole building.

It is therefore best to consider the shutter as part of the complete window system, rather than an accessory chosen at the end.

A well-chosen shutter should be easy to use, functional when lowered and visually discreet when not needed.
